In the summer of 2012, Frank Wolf and Todd McGowan completed a 620 km journey by canoe from Nain, NL to Kangiqsualujjuaq, QC via a new route over the Labrador Plateau. The resulting film- Kitturiaqtakes audiences on an unconventional ride of discovery in this intimate portrayal of the north.

A local mosquito named Malina narrates the film as the pair journey through this remote, beautiful, and harsh landscape. Whitewater rapids, brutal portages, and clouds of mosquitoes and black flies are some of the challenges they face as they forge a new canoe route in the wilderness.

More than just an adventure film, Kitturiaq (which means mosquito in Inuktitut) shares the perspectives of the Inuit and Innu people who have called this land home for thousands of years as they face the challenge of balancing their traditional ways with the demands of the modern world.

Kitturiaq takes its audience intimately into the experience of the expedition and its quirky, enigmatic style sets the film apart from anything else in the documentary realm.
